Steffan Hughes is a 25 year old singer from Denbighshire, North Wales. He began performing at the age of 8 at the Urdd Eisteddfod and the National Eisteddfod of Wales, and over a period of fourteen years earned over 160 national prizes.


After being featured as a guest soloist on the National Youth Orchestra of Wales’ album Christmas Spirit he released his first solo album Cana o dy Galon at the age of 12. Following this, he duetted with Katherine Jenkins on the track ‘Pie Jesu’ for her Sacred Arias album in 2008, which reached number 5 in the UK Album charts.


A decade on, Steffan is now a member of the Classical Brit Award-winning group Only Men Aloud and with them has recently enjoyed performing on several UK Tours, half-time performances at the Principality Stadium during the Six Nations, TV performances on This Morning and BBC’s Children in Need and reuniting with Katherine Jenkins at Cardiff Castle, during the Champion’s League celebrations.


In 2018, he released his second solo album simply titled Steffan which was featured as album-of-the-week on Chris Needs’ BBC Radio Wales show. He performs regularly on S4C and presents his own radio show titled Sioeau Cerdd Steffan Rhys Hughes [Steffan Rhys Hughes’ Musicals] on BBC Radio Cymru. 


Other highlights include receiving the Urdd Bryn Terfel Scholarship in 2016, and recently making his television presenting debut on S4C joining the presenting team of the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and the Gwyl Cerdd Dant. Recent concert work includes Movie Mixtape: Songs from the Silver Screen at the Wales Millennium Centre with the Novello Orchestra, Lucie Jones, Ian H Watkins and Craig Gallivan.
